I survived the Stampede Casino year two and immediately skipped the ocean to be with my husband.

I'm back in England for the next 3 and a half weeks and thrilled!!!

It's been over a MONTH since my last blog so let's see...what have I been up to???

Lovin' on my mommy for mother's day.

Report cards.

Grumbling, mumbling, and fumbling about report cards.

Celebrating Jason's 27th year on this planet.

Groaning and moaning and more report cards.

Figuring out what grade level each one of my Learning Disabled complex kids are at. That was devastating.

Putting it on their report card.

Teaching fourth graders about puberty for their first glimpse of human sexuality! HA!HA!HA!

Hanging out with my fabulous friend Christen for one night as she was in town.

Celebrating the completion of the report cards!

Finally blogging.

Horray!!! 7 and a half more days of life with the kids I have now. YIKES!

Then it's a couple days' break, working at the Greatest Outdoor Rodeo on Earth at the Calgary Stampede, and in exactly one month jetting off to be with my man, my lover, my husband!

One Quarter Gone

As I just was readying myself for bed at 9:00pm I had an epiphany about why getting older seems harder and harder (although this birthday is nowhere near as mentally challenging to me as the last!) -- no, it's not because staying awake beyond the spring sunset is nearly impossible -- I think it's because we no longer have any birthdays that we truly look forward to.

When I was 8 I couldn't wait to be 13 because then I'd be a teenager! Oooh, aaaahh. When I was 14 I couldn't wait to be 16 so I could get my driver's lisence. When I was 17 I couldn't wait to be 18 so that I could legally drink. And then 21 seemed the next age worth looking forward to so that I would be legal in all of North America. During all those years all one did was want to grow up. But then I did. I grew up, finished university, got a job...all the things to look forward to. And there is so much more to look forward to except none of these other hallmarks have an age definition.

Getting married (which I did at 25!), having kids, maintaining a career, raising a family; these are fabulous pieces of life I look forward to but the next real age worth celebrating is retirement at hopefully 55! (I'm trying to be optimistic). Every year til then is just another year of getting older, and fatter, and wrinklier, and stubboner.

And wiser.

Good thing it all becomes what it is one day at a time.

And the last 365 days have been amazing --- job stability, engaged, married. Volleyball, tennis, poker. Laughter, tears, Friday nights. Each day a blessing; completely undeserved and gracious.

Married Life

The big question most people are asking me after 15 days of marriage is: "So, how's married life treatin' ya?"

All I can say is: "As good as it could be considering the continent and ocean that is seperating us!"

I think I miss him more now that we're married.

STAG NIGHT

I have some really wonderful friends!

My teaching partner, Marnee, insisted on throwing me a stag even though it's just my Vegas "paper wedding". She says I am gonna be married and we have to have a party. Who can argue with a party?!

We began the night at my favorite resteraunt, the Cactus Club, where the double shot belinis are unbelievable! There we had chats, laughter, gifts, and the beginning of the Viva Las Vegas Stag night challenges. Marnee made me a book of challenges for the evening, including finding a divorced guy and getting advice from him and taking pictures with someone wearing flip flops. The night ended in a location where shaking one's assets is a necessity! The night was a blast!

Thank you to all everyone who came! I truly appreciate your support and the fun! And a huge thank you to Marnee who planned it all and made it tasteful and hilarious! I had such a great time!
